McAuliffe lays the ground for Birmingham’s first skyscraper. The One Eastside development in Birmingham City Centre.

At 51 storeys and 154 meters tall, One Eastside will be the largest build to rent tower outside of London, providing 667 new apartments and 23,000 sq ft of amenity space. The development is tipped to create over 300 new jobs in the region.

McAuliffe has been advising on the scheme for a number of years, and has already begun early archaeological support and regulatory liaison.

Over four months, the team will carry out sheet piling, drainage diversions, and a reduced level dig, as well as removing over 6km3 of made ground, and installing piling mats on the brownfield site.

The development will sit adjacent to HS2’s flagship Curzon Street station in the heart of Birmingham, where McAuliffe recently completed a three-year programme of remediation and enabling works.

John McAuliffe, Group Managing Director at McAuliffe Group, said:

“Being involved in this landmark regional project is special for us as a local contractor. Particularly so soon after completing works on HS2 Curzon Street.

“One Eastside will create hundreds of local jobs, and is another step forward in the development of an exciting, international city.”

The scheme received £200m forward funding from Pension Insurance Corporation plc, with the 46-month build programme set to begin in November 2022. Read more, here:   https://btrnews.co.uk/200m-forward-funding-agreed-for-one-eastside-btr/
