McAuliffe invests £10.5m in new plant to reduce carbon emissions

07 Oct 2021

McAuliffe will invest £10.5m in state-of-the-art plant and equipment in 2021/22, as part of an asset investment programme aimed at increasing fuel efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

McAuliffe Invests To Help Reduce Carbon Emissions

Four Komatsu hydraulic excavators arrived on McAuliffe sites this October, with more pieces of kit currently on order. Each intelligent machine (#11 model) is designed to reduce fuel consumption by up to 5%, as well as being HVO compatible.

The excavators join last month’s arrival – a Komatsu D71PXi-24 bulldozer with second generation machine control – bolstering the business’ in-house fleet of plant, vehicles and equipment.

McAuliffe also welcomed two new Powerscreen Warrior 2100 and 1400 screeners, which means it now owns eight pieces of specialist screening/crushing equipment.

Fuel consumption, utilisation and operator efficiency of the plant will be monitored by McAuliffe’s logistics team, using Komatsu’s Komtrax analytics system.

John McAuliffe, group managing director of McAuliffe Group, said: “Small changes by businesses can add up to big reductions in carbon emissions, which is why it’s important we maintain a modern fleet of intelligent plant.

“As well as being more environmentally friendly than older equipment, having fuel-efficient plant means we’re in a good position for when the fuel duty rebate for red diesel is removed in April.”
