Based in Wolverhampton, St Mary’s is known for its strong community spirit, with the team going out of its way to support vulnerable local people during the pandemic.
As well as raising £2,800 for Compton Care by running 1,600 miles around the city, St Mary’s has joined forces with McAuliffe and local venue, The Emerald Club, to deliver over 130 care packages to elderly residents. This includes providing personal phone numbers that people can call if they’re lonely or struggling to cope.
Our history with the club goes back to the 1960s, when McAuliffe co-founder, Larry McAuliffe, played for the team, with his son, current McAuliffe MD, John, later following in his footsteps.
McAuliffe director, Anna-Maria McAuliffe, has also been involved with the club since the mid-90s, supporting the committee with fundraising, event organisation, and sandwich-making for the all-important post-match refreshments.
Anna-Maria McAuliffe, head of McAuliffe’s charitable arm, The McAuliffe Foundation, said: “McAuliffe and St Mary’s have been partners for decades, sharing the same values around the importance of family and community.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to sponsor the team, and we plan to keep working with Gerry and everyone at St Mary’s for years to come.’
