McAuliffe turns 50 years old
03 Mar 2021
By this summer, McAuliffe will have existed for half a century.
Our company was founded in Wolverhampton in 1970, when Maurice McAuliffe recruited his brother, Larry, to help deliver his first big shuttering contract with Cubitt’s at Goodyears, Wolverhampton.
The partnership was a success and, by the 1980s, the twosome had a team behind them – including current directors, Mick and Steve McAuliffe – and had won the high-profile Tipton Gasworks project for Bloor Homes, who remain a client to this day.
A lot has changed since those early days in business (not least the use of D8s/boxes and motorscrapers, which we remember fondly…). But a lot has stayed the same, too.
We’ve remained the same family and community-spirited business we always were, and have the long-serving, highly knowledgeable people to prove it (special mention to Paul Burns, who’s put up with us since the mid-1970s).
We’ve continued to invest in technology – from being the first to use an intelligent excavator; to building one of the country’s biggest in-house fleets of intelligent plant; to bringing new remediation technologies to the UK.
And, we’ve continued to win big and complex projects, because we know our stuff and we really want to do a good job. Every time.
Above all, we know it’s the people who really make a business:
Your employees, who manage to stay enthusiastic on-site during unprecedented rainfall.
Your clients, who trust your ideas again, and again.
Your suppliers, who teach you new things and become long-time friends.
So, a huge thank you, to every last one of you. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Here’s to the next 50 years!
