It’s been a bumper year for awards at McAuliffe, with the team triumphing in four separate categories at the Brownfield Awards 2025 in November.

The wins included:

  • Best Sustainable Brownfield/Urban Regeneration/Infrastructure Scheme for preparing a former landfill site for construction of the new Walsall Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) alongside our client Encyclis (with thanks to our partners Fichtner and Expanded)
  • Best Application of Remediation Technologies for remediation of the former British Vita site at Seaford Road, Salford, alongside e3p, with the project also scooping the Judges’ Choice Award
  • Best Young Brownfield Professional, which went to our talented Senior Remediation Engineer, Dan Farr, who was up against 9 other entrants

The Brownfield Awards celebrate best practice in the sector, with a focus on innovation, sustainability and stakeholder engagement.

Speaking on the Seaford Road project, the judges noted that it ‘[stood] out as an innovative project, pushing the boundaries of understanding and delivering to both the client and stakeholder needs.’

This year, the shortlist included projects from the likes of AECOM, WSP, National Grid, VolkerFitzpatrick and Mott MacDonald.

John McAuliffe, Group CEO, said: “This is thoroughly deserved recognition for our team, as well as for the clients and partners who worked alongside us to deliver both projects to a high standard.

“A special mention for Dan, who started with us as a labourer and has worked hard to become an award-winning remediation engineer. We’re proud of all you’ve achieved.”
